The company is managed by R. Thomas Savage, Jr. Mr. Savage is a native North Carolinian, but spent most of his insurance career in South Carolina, where he has been active in both politics and community affairs. A United States Coast Guard veteran, Mr. Savage earned a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a B.S. degree in Accounting form the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an M.B.A. degree form the Babcock Graduate School of Management of Wake Forest University. A North Carolina Licensed CPA, Mr. Savage began his business career with KPMG in Greensboro, North Carolina where he worked in advisory services, tax and the audit side of small to medium-sized businesses as well as many Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Savage is a licensed all lines insurance agent in South Carolina and a non-resident insurance agent in North Carolina. During his career he has established, utilized and prepared applications for admission for captive insurance companies both offshore and in South Carolina. As a former CEO and CFO of multi-state, public and private regulated insurance companies, Mr. Savage brings an in-depth knowledge of bona fide insurance operations from all perspectives with emphasis on the financial, regulatory and taxation aspects. He is member of the AICPA, the North Carolina Association of CPA’s, member and past president of the Sertoma Club of Charleston, and has served on numerous insurance industry joint underwriting associations and insurance industry lobbying groups boards of directors.
